Get Some Findings and Provide THREE Recommendations for the Design of the User Interface for a Multilingual Texting App

Design of the User Interface for a Multilingual Texting App

A user interface for a multilingual texting app

The multilingual testing app provides a user interface of over 100 languages in the keyboard. These techniques allow the user to text using a language of choice. The first languages provided in the key include Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many other languages. However, despite the achievement in the design of such an app, much is needed to improve its usability and improve the flexibility regarding operations. Therefore, the following recommendation suits best for the design of the multilingual testing app.

The implement localization of help and equivalent software simultaneously during the design process to efficient user operation

Localization is simply the process of adopting software for use in another locale meaning releasing some different products with each tailored for use within its target market. Various issues need to be partially catered for during the implementation and design process for the user interface. This is important since some languages or script usually take more space on the screens and have fixed dimensions such as dialog boxes could be sized to allow for the expansion of texts space. Moreover, the system is essential where the user can find the button as shown in the user guide described in the app. This process makes there experience better and clear (Badashian, Mahdavi & Pourshirmohammadi, 2008, June). Therefore, based on the user interface design principle that states that clarity is essential in any application since the user may not have the knowledge and skills to use the software, the designers should ensure the issue of clarity is handled. Therefore, the design criteria should consider this factor and make use of it by providing a user guide systems to direct the user to the application of the system.

Good attention is needed on the icons, symbols, and images for quality translation in designing a user interface that is effective.

Quality translation is a necessity since a distorted message can arise due to this, and at the same time, the efficient translation would convey a correct message. A practical and efficient translation is an integral part of the quality of the multilingual app that provides an interface for texting. It has been noticed that some of the user interfaces have problems in the translation especially to some native languages in developing nations. There have been some contextual mistakes noticed in the use of the interface through the user. These have provided a process of change for improvement for efficient translation. The principle of the user interface design states that an interface exists to enable an interaction between people in the society. Therefore, an interface should be able to provide and deliver the message to the respective users despite the diversity in language. The multilingual texting app was developed to bridge the gap between languages, and therefore efficient translation is a factor to be considered in this case.  The aspect of translation has been faced with mistakes in the program that is meant to provide a translation. There have been some misplaced statements that carry a diverse meaning thereby distorting information.

To optimize the layout for gesture keyboards

Despite the massive population of the app users, one would still want to ask for an extension towards a universal design or perhaps the rate of individual language optimality. The optimization process is effective for the shift of systems in the user interface probe. There has been developed in the optimization space that is related to the speed, accuracy, and similarity in the gesture simulation in texting keyboard (Kocienda & Ording, 2016). However, despite the immense benefits, the gesture texting suffers significant problems such as ambiguity that is related to its operation in the system. The system has been used to provide automation process to give it a result that the users can apply. Zhai shows that the error in gesture texting is between 5-10% higher than the touch texting. This is because the in gesture texting the input finger must cross over to the unintended letters in the keyboard before reaching the intended sections. This is confirmed in the parts of the letters such as ‘o’ ‘I’ and ‘u’ are always close and have the same gestures hence adding to the mistakes. Therefore, based on the principle of user interface design which states that clarity is the first and most significant aspect of an interface, it is essential for the designers of the app to clarify on what level of technology they have designed.  Therefore, there should be designs that significantly outdo the QWERTY regarding speed and clarity through an optimization process that can instantly benefit the mobile users. The optimization plan for the multilingual user app will promote its usability in texting (Kocienda & Ording, 2016).

Implementation of the recommendations

The most significant factor is to consider expertise in computer programming to set the software based on the instructions provided. The multilingual texting app for the user applied programming techniques that need relevant and skilled personnel to ensure that it is free from mistakes and errors. Therefore, based on the issue of translation recommended for the app, it is essential to use the translation management system (TSM). The next step would be to update any glitch or bug in a bug tracking systems. Thus, the mobile application developers, linguistics, and designers can get access to the details on the bugs and rectify the situation (Kocienda & Ording, 2016).

Moreover, based on the localization process, it is essential for the designers on the top of all to test the localized app for all the languages since very many languages are involved in the application software. This is important to ensure that there remain mistakes such as un-translated texts, wrong interpretation, out of context translation or some offensive context that might be transformed without knowledge. Consequently, it is significant to employ a complete locale that is composed of various language and country codes, alongside other important aspects such as dates, alternative spellings and gestures applications (Alexandris, 2013, July).

Additionally, effective attention is required to be given to the symbols, icon, and images since they may distort meaning based on a variety of languages involved in the interface. This is because they can have a diverse religious, cultural or the political purpose affecting the message translation (Alexandris, 2013, July). Most of the multilingual apps for texting is sometimes affected the problem of understanding various cultural symbols and icons to represent meaning in the system. Therefore, to avoid such problems, an intellectual in linguistic would be of assistance for consultation and other relevant information pertaining the different language. Thus, the designers need linguist to apprehend what type of symbols and icons.
