Historical Figure Reflection Paper
Based on our text (Cox, et al., chap 2), historical figures handout and video presentation, please select a social work figure from the past that inspires you in terms of their contribution to the profession or their personal/demonstrated values and actions. This will require additional research beyond the handout, text or video. Make sure to document your sources (Author, date) including a reference page. This should be submitted on Moodle on the due date. This written reflection should address their contribution to social work, the social work values they reflect and how it inspires you as a student and developing professional. In order to get full credit, please address the following prompts. Also, use APA guidelines including title page and reference page. (See syllabus and APA resource on Moodle)
What is this social worker’s name, ethnicity, gender, or other important aspect of identity?
What is the time in history (years) that this social worker practiced?
What area of social work did this person focus on or make an impact in? (i.e.. Child abuse, worker’s rights and benefits, social work education, mental health, etc.)
What social work values/ethics (6 core values), do you believe this person demonstrated?
What were some of the personal values or attributes and actions that you admired in this person?
What was the contribution this person made to the social work profession that you felt was most impactful?
In what ways has this person inspired you as a developing professional? (Even if not in the area of social work)
