In the future home automation devices will control, monitor, and minimize energy consumption in home appliances. There will be increased use of smart phones, iphones, and wireless android internet tables. Home automation will be passive user interfaces with switches and touch screens paving their way (Lindfors, 2010). Devices will support TCP/IP internet connection, enabling integration of home automation. Users will access the service through PCs and systems integrator.
High quality IP cameras will be in use because of their reliable operation as opposed to low quality consumer IP cameras currently in use. There will be increase of trained and qualified automation specialists to install such devices unlike electrician used today.

Home automation is best preferred by most people to increase their comfort and improve their lifestyles. However, they can pose a great danger in same homes. Example automating lamps may lead to accidents at home when walking in-home dark hallways or walking down stairs. Financial and health problems arise as people fall and incur severe injuries in dark places away from their automation devices.
Such injuries are caused by lack of adequate knowledge on best devices to install in homes and most efficient ones. Example occupancy sensor switch automatically detects presence of people in a room and turns light accordingly. It senses when there is nobody in the room and turns off the lights. In addition, it has the capability to sense presence of light in the room and will not turn on lights. Apart from issues of accidents at home, electricity bills pose a greater problem in homes whose timers that set light off are set incorrectly. There would be high financial costs on electricity in one home. Analogue timers are most effective in putting off lights.
Hacking is a great issue caused by malicious attackers. Internet connected devices are prone to viral attacks and hackers. Input of passwords is the solution to the problem.
Potential causes of the above problems are stakeholders such as managers and unit developers. They mistakenly believe that regression tests are not important and effective basing their reasons on scope of changes involves. They are most likely to believe that system testing will catch integrated defects introduced and not be confident of introduced changes.

Home automation issues are avoided through conducting various tests. These include unit testing of software modules, integration testing of units in a subsystem, specialty engineering testing on performance, safety, usability robustness among other qualities of systems.

These include offering training and mentorship programs to stakeholders on value and importance of automated regression testing.
