Currently, we are working with a firm that is solving a significant problem as a result of inventing steel reusable bottles as a significant initiative in addressing the many environmental impacts caused by plastic water bottles. Our primary goal is to produce products that satisfy our customer’s lifestyle hence we consider the approaches in which our clients will apply our products to their daily lives. It is imperative first to discuss the initiatives of inventing our products and compare our products features on environmental impact.
Bottled water has become increasingly used in different parts of the world, and countries such as Australia has familiarized with bottled water. Currently, environmental pollution has become increasingly dangerous to our lives. The environmental impacts enhanced by the consumption of bottled water have resulted in some countries such as Canada and US to consider the elimination of its sale (Torrenta 2013, 1). The environmental impacts are not only found in the final production but from its extraction, production, transportation and in the litter stream and landfill (One Green planent 2016, 9). According to an environmental research carried in America in 2007 indicated that the US made purchases of approximately eight billion bottled water gallons.
Additionally, extraction of spring water from upstream aquifers disrupts the aquifers flow that impacts the fauna and the flora. On the other hand, to produce the bottles; a lot of energy used is equivalent to seventeen barrels of oil and at the same time producing carbon dioxide approximately to two million tons (Gleick 2010, 89). According to a European industry that deals with the manufacturing and production of water bottles indicates that 3megajoules of energy are used to produce one little bottle (Gleick 2010, 72). Carbon dioxide emitted during the manufacture of the containers can be emitted by more than 300,000 vehicles in a period of one year. According to a research study carried by the Earth Policy in 2006 indicated that British company that dealt with bottled water generated thirty thousand Tons of carbon dioxide ( Gleick Peter 2010, 70). Additionally, in 2005, approximately 50 billion of Polyethylene terephthalate bottles were produced newly apart from recycling the used materials hence leading to greenhouse gasses. Crude oil utilized in the production of polyethylene terephthalate bottles and approximately 3l of water employed in the manufacture of a one-liter water bottle (Gleick Peter 2010, 70). Provided with the notion of how bottled water impacts the environment it is suitable to find the best practices that can lead to the reduction of bottled water impacts to the environment.
A significant alternative involves the replacement of plastic water bottles with steel water bottles. Although the consumption of energy while manufacturing stainless steel water bottles can be substantial as compared to water bottles, stainless steel still carries a larger advantage on the environment (Moore, 2014, 8). The company’s objectives in developing the steel water bottles were as a result of analyzing the available water bottle used in different countries. The research made an analysis of the products from their extraction from the raw materials, manufacturing and packaging of the bottle procedures, distribution processed and the amount of water used and finally disposal methods. According to the company’s research involved the assessment of different environmental impacts that included mineral extraction, non-renewable energy and global warming. The conclusions made illustrated that stainless steel was the most suitable water bottle product that was in a position to reduce some of the environmental impacts.
One of the significant aspects of stainless steel water bottles is that they are assisting in environmental conservation. It is a fact that more than 30 billion plastic bottles deposited in landfills and for them to decompose they will take even up to more than 1000years (Moore 2014, 12). Apart from the effectiveness of the manufactures to develop plastic bottles, disposing of the plastic water bottles is a disgrace to the environment since this type if pollution is a significant threat to our ecosystem. The introduction of stainless steel has assisted in the reduction of such environmental consequences, as a result of their durability in regard to sustainability and proper conditions for an extended period. Provided with their durability a, resilience and strength they are in a position to last for long in good shape. Therefore, the development of the steel water bottles has enhanced to the reduction of environmental pollution that had tremendously increased over the last decades. Additionally, stainless is steel is recyclable a factor not observed by plastic water bottles. Stainless still water materials can be recycled and all the components reused and separated. It is not a waste product.
The company director supports the idea that the invention of stainless steel water bottles will reduce to the high levels of environmental pollution that have impacted not only the country but the whole word, and he offers the agreement that the company committed to working towards attaining its objectives.
